Canon - PIXMA MX850 laser printer review

The new PIXMA MX range from Canon offers various advantages over the MP range. The MX range offers four color print unlike the MP range printers. For your black texts, it has a unique, pigmented blank ink. It enhances the quality of your printed black text. This range especially fulfils the requirements of the SOHO market.

Like all other Canon printers, this one too is slick and stylish. The PIXMA MX850 is a multi functional machine. It’s done in shades of grey and black, which gives it quite a trendy look. The printer has an Automatic Document Feeder or the ADF. While performing a job, the ADF can work on both the sides of the paper. This means that if you are trying to make a photocopy, you can actually have the copy of the original on both the sides (duplex copying). But all this takes time; you cannot have it done in a second or two. This is so because the ink takes some time to dry up.

When the printer is working in duplex mode, it prints on one side and then waits for some 10 seconds before it can proceed to its next job. A 20 side print job in black text will take around nine minutes. This thus becomes a bit time consuming and this is the prime reason as to why people prefer single sided printing. More than saving resources, people are keener on saving time.

Canon's Pimxa MX7600 All-in-one printer review

Canon’s Pixma MX7600 weighing nearly 40lbs is an efficient printer in all means. With its excellent features and great quality, it more than compensates for its weight. The printer boasts of an advanced technology known as PgR. The printer has six color and black ink tanks and this technology adds clear ink to these tanks.

This helps in improving the overall quality of the text and the graphics. The clear ink forms a thin layer, well before the other inks. The text thus looks well formed and clear. The clear layer of the ink helps in preventing the mixing of the ink. The edges appear to be clean and neat. The color graphics also look great. The drawback with this is that you have one more cartridge which needs to be replaced on a regular basis.

The printer works at a good speed. Black text is printed at a rate of 28 pages/ minute. Color graphics are produced at a speed of 23 pages/ minute; though it depends on the settings. A color photo measuring 4×6 is produced well within a minute. Even an 8×10 size photo doesn’t take more than a minute. The photos look bright with good contrast.

The ink doesn’t take much time to dry up. The pictures are dry to touch the moment they are printed. However the result in not excellent when a fully colored print out is taken on a plain paper; though it’s still reasonably good. The best part is that the paper isn’t moist even when taking prints in full color.
